Beginner or certified: which dive is yours?

The short answer

If you do not hold a diving certification, book the beginner dive. There is no other option for you on our boat, and there should not be: an uncertified diver belongs beside an instructor, in open water, within the 13 m ceiling.

If you hold a certification from a recognised agency, book the certified experience. You dive with a professional guide and a buddy on profiles planned from your card, your logbook and the day's conditions.

Depth

Beginners: 5–8 m on the first dive, about 13 m on the second. Certified divers: around 30 m on standard dives; the deep sites to 60 m only for suitably qualified divers, by agreement with the team.

Supervision

Beginners have an instructor beside them throughout, 3–4 divers per instructor, controlling buoyancy and depth. Certified divers are led by a dive guide and dive with a buddy, managing their own buoyancy the way they were trained.

Sites

Both products dive the same coast — the reefs and cave mouths off Cleopatra Beach, the amphora site near the harbour. Beginners see the caves and overhangs from open water. Certified divers dive the overhangs, ledges and swim-throughs within their profile.

Certified but out of practice?

Book the certified experience and say in the certification field how long it has been. The guide keeps your first profile conservative or advises a refresher. Booking the beginner dive instead is also fine — some returning divers prefer an instructor beside them for the first dive back.
