CMAS courses: the certifications we organise

The star system

• One Star Diver — the entry-level certification: theory, confined-water skills and open-water training dives; dives with a buddy under supervision to a recommended limit of about 20 metres. Broadly equivalent to Open Water Diver.
• Two Star Diver — the experienced diver: deeper diving, navigation, rescue basics; dives with another certified diver. Broadly equivalent to Advanced Open Water.
• Three Star Diver — the dive leader: able to lead groups of certified divers and assist in training; the step towards instructor levels.

Why CMAS on this coast

CMAS is the federation whose system Turkish diving grew up with, and the star levels are what many local instructors were trained under before adding other agencies' ratings. For a guest, the practical consequence is simple: a CMAS card is recognised at dive centres everywhere, it maps cleanly onto the PADI and SSI levels most travellers know, and it is the certification we can teach from our own boat without sending you to a classroom in another town.

What we will not do is promise a course we cannot run on your dates. Every CMAS course is planned around the instructor's availability, the sea and the student, which is why the honest answer to 'can I do it next week?' is always 'tell us your dates and we will check' — not 'yes'.

Requirements

• Minimum age per CMAS and national federation standards for each level.
• Medical fitness to dive; a medical certificate where the federation requires one.
• For Two and Three Star, the previous level plus a minimum number of logged dives.

Duration and price

A course is several days of an instructor's time and is planned around your level, your dates and your group. That is why no price or fixed schedule is printed here: tell us what you want and you get a personal plan with a fixed price before committing to anything.

Training stages

Theory, confined or shallow-water skills, then open-water training dives from our boat on the reefs beneath the castle — the same water you would dive as a certified guest.

International recognition

CMAS certifications are recognised by dive centres worldwide and are mutually recognised with the other major agencies at equivalent levels.

Safety requirements

Federation standards set instructor ratios, depth limits per training dive and the skills that must be demonstrated. Our instructors are PADI-certified professionals.
